FOCUS AREAS

Whitecap's major areas of interest are:
  • After-school, weekend and off-track education
  • Family support, including parent education, job preparation, literacy and enrichment opportunities.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES

The Whitecap Foundation reviews solicited proposals only. If your organization's mission matches the Whitecap Foundation's mission and focus areas, and you are interested in acquainting the foundation with your programs, please send a 1-2 page letter of introduction, electronically or by mail, that includes the following information:
  • Purpose and program services of your organization
  • Geographic area and population served
  • Brief description of the proposed project and numbers served
  • Copy of IRS exemption letter or federal tax ID number
Please do not send letters of inquiry with extensive attachments. If the initial review of your materials indicates a good match for the foundation, Whitecap will request a formal proposal and arrange for a site visit. Preliminary letters of introduction are generally reviewed within two months of receipt.

The Whitecap Foundation makes grants only to qualified tax-exempt charitable organizations. Grants are project-based and do not cover general operating support. Whitecap does not fund:
  • Purchase or construction of buildings
  • Endowment funds
  • Tickets for fundraising events
  • Religious groups, individuals, political campaigns, or organizations directly involved in lobbying
