In 1997, The Whitecap Foundation launched the Executive Management Academy (EMA). The EMA’s mission is to help grantees build organizational capacity and strengthen client services by providing training, technical assistance, and networking opportunities for peer learning and support.

Based on the Whitecap Foundation grantees’ profile and needs, the EMA program’s goals are to:

  1. Provide high quality, in-depth management/executive training sessions (i) designed to help grantees develop their organizations and provide quality service to their clients, and (ii) presented in an environment that encourages participants to ask questions, share ideas and experiences, and discuss current issues and challenges;

  2. Create a community of nonprofit peers who have trained together and can continue to share ideas, best practices, and solutions to common problems; and

  3. Increase grantees’ leadership capacity and confidence by providing opportunities to understand and test practical concepts and tools.
